Liposuction is a powerful surgical technique that removes fat through minimal, (5-8mm length) well-concealed incisions, leaving little or no scarring. It can be extremely effective in reshaping the male physique back into a slimmer, svelte and more masculine profile.
Whilst liposuction is not a substitute for loosing weight, it can be a useful adjunct for treating stubborn areas that are resistant to dieting. In males, the most common areas treated by liposuction are the abdomen, chest (‘man-boob’) and flank regions. Each case is different however, and many potential areas can be targeted by liposuction.
Often liposuction can be performed alongside other procedures such as an abdominoplasty (tummy-tuck), face and neck lift procedures as well as gynecomastia (male breast reduction) surgeries. For more information about liposuction please see our FAQS.
Excessive enlargement of the male breast affects a great number of men at some point during their life. Often it occurs during puberty but by the early 20’s most cases have resolved by themselves. In some men however, despite a healthy weight and regular exercise, a stubborn area of tissue persists under the nipple and surrounding area creating a ‘man-boob.’ This may cause embarrassment and have an impact on the clothes and activity choices a man is happy to make.
Gynecomastia surgery is an effective way of reducing the excess breast tissue and enhancing the contours of the chest to create a more fit, healthy and masculine physique. For more information about gynecomastia please see our FAQS.
A flat, toned stomach can be hard to attain in spite of a healthy lifestyle and regular exercise. In males, liposuction can typically address stubborn excess fat by de-bulking and re-shaping the abdominal and waist regions. In select cases however, particularly where the skin has been stretched by past excesses, liposuction alone is not enough and an abdominoplasty or ‘tummy-tuck’ is required.
An abdominoplasty surgically removes fat and excess skin, thus differing from liposuction which removes fat alone. It is a very powerful technique for reshaping the torso, leading to a dramatically flatter, firmer abdomen.
An abdominoplasty is not designed to be a weight loss procedure per se, rather a procedure to optimize the appearance of the abdomen once a stable and healthy weight has been attained through diet and exercise. For more information about abdominoplasty please see our FAQS.
A thighplasty (or thigh lift) is a procedure that tightens the skin and removes excess fat to produce slim and contoured thighs that are in proportion to the rest of your body. This procedure is of most benefit to individuals who have lost significant amounts of weight and who are left with sagging skin that has lost its elasticity. Thighplasty achieves the best results when performed on those who are close to their ideal weight but who are unhappy with the aesthetic appearance of their legs. Thighplasty can produce dramatic results in these circumstances not only improving the appearance but alsoenabling greater ease of movement by reducing chafing.
A thighplasty typically focuses on removing excess skin on the inner thighs (hiding the scars in the inside of the thigh or groin). The remainder of the thighs can if necessary be treated with liposuction. Dr. Tregaskiss will work with you during your consultation to develop a surgical plan that meets your individual needs.
